Wenn im Kühlschrank das Licht ausgeht …

Inspiration

Where does inspiration come from? Under which circumstances does it strike?

I guess if I knew the answer to that question, I could sell it for a lot of money. But I don’t. I’m totally clueless.

Take tonight, for instance. My third week as a full-time secretary is coming to an end, and it has been busy for most of this time. I’m tired, I’m hardly able to type when I come home, and worst of all, I feel like my creativity is stifled by my very uncreative day job. And just when I thought I wouldn’t be able to produce anything anymore before the weekend, I was suddenly struck by the idea for a short piece. I grabbed a pen and my random-thoughts-notebook and wrote for 20 minutes in long hand. The text was just flowing down on the paper. almost as if I didn’t have anything to do with it.

So under the most umpromising circumstances, I’ve been inspired to write a text I did not know was in me. This is one of these moments when I love being a writer.

Beginning for August 31, 2006

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.

I am pretty sure about the story I will be writing. Already. It’s still over two months.

More on the subject soon to come, when I don’t have to spend all my week in the office anymore.

QotD: Best. Villain. Ever.

Who’s your favorite movie villain?

Whoa, though one. An attempt at compiling my Top 5 – very preliminary:
Darth Vader
Scar in The Lion King

The Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (the only reason to rewatch that film)

Agent Smith

Hans Gruber (well, Alan Rickman knows how to play a villain, doesn’t he?)

Teuflisch

diabolic

Himmlisch

Heavenly
