I blame Belle de Jour for revealing her identity and the Dr. Who special. But then, what am I complaining about? I should have 25k today, and I’m 15k ahead…

Yeah, about that 40k plan – I shouldn’t have mentioned it, I guess.

It didn’t help that I was awake half the night. Just when I was about to drift off to sleep, my muse thought it was time she stirred things up a little. She gave me the beginning of a new story and a character, both of which intriguing. Thing is, new ideas are exciting, and I was wide awake again. Mission accomplished,  my muse zoomed off into the corner of my mind where she hides when she doesn’t want to be found. She’s been hiding all day, too. Hence, no 5,000 words today.

Yay, 35k!

I’ve not had a 5k day yet this year. Maybe tomorrow? I like the look of 35k, but 40k looks even better. I guess I’ll have to see how tomorrow goes. The last two days, the words came easily, but only three days ago writing this story was a steep uphill struggle.

Just realized, that’s just six words shy of 32,500.

Today I started slow, but once I got the first scene written, the words just flowed. 2,500 words in about two hours, and they were all relevant words, too.

Today, things didn’t run quite so smoothly. Glad I’m done for today.

If I write as much as today – 3800 words – again tomorrow, I’ll make it past the 30k mark.

I wrote one scene today which is my favourite part of the story so far. The dialogue is sharp, there’s no waffling, and it reveals a side of the heroine that has only been hinted at so far. This side is necessary to make the big twist work, though. If I keep up this momentum, I might get to write the big twist as soon as Friday …

I have figured out a few crucial things for the story. Now it looks like I have actually enough material to turn this into a story that spans 50k – maybe more than that.

Yay! *made it past 20k happy dance* Unlike yesterday, writing was easy today. And fun, lots of fun.

It’s my seventh NaNo anniversary, too, I’m writing my 8th November novel. Every year on November 8, I plan to write a long post to express what this event means. But then I’m usually too knackered to write about it. Well, I guess I’m expressing my gratitude adequately with my annual donation on this day every year.

2580 words today. They didn’t  come easy.

2248 words today. 2248 reluctant words. Ah well, 2k+ is all that matters. My treat: the ISBW NaNoWriMo special episode.
